This book was what I had been waiting for when I was younger--a chance to see one of the bad guys in a different light. I loved the idea. It felt like the author was going to explore how even the stereotyped 'evil animals' could be something more. And it turned out to be like that.
Until the very end.
Even with the weasel giving up -everything- for this one little mouse, the mouse reverses her belief that he was actually good inside and decides that, 'Well, he most likely wasn't.'
It is the most -racist- (yes, -racist-) thing I have ever read in my life. All the bad guys are from certain species, all the good guys are from certain species, and they can never change how they are, or how they feel, or how they act because they are born predisposed to being 'BAD' and 'GOOD.'
It was a good book until the end. I would suggest just putting it down and considering it over before reading the last chapter--you'll feel more like justice was done.
